Well hello there Apocalyptoids! long time no see!
There's a reason for that which we'll get to soon enough but first I want to tell you why the ole Bladerunner ain't been around much. The simple truth is that there hasn't been much in the way of Earth-shattering catastrophe to talk about lately. Sure there have been some disastrous military misadventures and the odd mysterious plane crash but to be honest there hasn't been anything I could really sink my teeth into.
   Until now that is.
I also got caught up in the world of making a living and providing for the family and to tell you the truth one starts to feel a little schizophrenic planning for the kids university years and blogging about Armageddon.
 Anyhow we find ourselves, my friends, on the edge of a very real and imminent precipice. That of financial ruin.
Back in 2008 you'll recall, all seemed lost and yet somehow, at the last hour a piece of financial black magic was woven and cast and the creaking grumbling world continued to turn. Much to the surprise of many I might add.
  We could talk of derivatives and credit default swaps all day and never reach a real understanding of how these instruments work but what I think many of us DO understand is the old fashioned Ponzi scheme.
Charles Ponzi,  was an Italian businessman and con artist in the U.S. and Canada. His aliases include Charles Ponci, Carlo and Charles P. Bianchi.^[1] Born in Italy, he became known in the early 1920s as a swindler in North America for his money-making schemes. He promised clients a 50% profit within 45 days, or 100% profit within 90 days, by buying discounted postal reply coupons in other countries and redeeming them at face value in the United States as a form of arbitrage.^[2][3] In reality, Ponzi was paying early investors using the investments of later investors, a practice known as "robbing Peter to pay Paul." While this swindle predated Ponzi by several years, it became so identified with him that it now bears his namesake. His scheme ran for over a year before it collapsed, costing his "investors" $20 million.
  This is generally what the banks have been doing for decades only in the last 7 years or so it has taken on the bloated grotesque proportions of a Ponzilla.
  Add to the mess a central bank dumping trillions of dollars into the system the way Tepco dumps seawater on Fukushima and you have the perfect storm that has been gathering strength for far too long.
   The time of reckoning has come Apocalyptoids. Currencys are in freefall, commodities are crashing and worst of all the Chinese house of cards is about to tumble.
   The Greek debt fiasco, while only a sideshow did offer some intriguing lessons. The greatest of which, in my opinion, was that the Greek people, faced with utterly punitive and unpayable conditions about to be imposed on them kept their money in the bank and stayed in the country. 
   What does this mean? It means that when (WHEN) it happens here the sheep will be led to their financial slaughter as easily as candy is taken from a baby. Faith in the system. It is astonishing that if the average person gives any thought at all to the state of the world's finacial institutions they think that the government will take care of them. THE GOVERNMENT WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF YOU. Clear enough? I hope so.
   When will this all go down you ask? 2015. This year. Likely October. Likely October 7th. Specificity is a wonderful thing ain't it?
  Oh yeah one more thing for now.

Tokyo Electric Power Company workers have detected high levels of radiation in a ditch that flows into the ocean from a leaking tank at the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.
Japan's nuclear watchdog said Thursday the leak could be the beginning of a new disaster — a series of leaks of contaminated water from hundreds of steel tanks holdng massive amounts of radioactive water coming from three melted reactors, as well as underground water running into reactor and turbine basements.
Tokyo Electric Power Co. says about 300,000 litres of contaminated water leaked from one of the tanks, possibly through a seam. The leak is the fifth, and worst, since last year involving tanks of the same design at the wrecked Fukushima Dai-ichi plant, raising concerns that contaminated water could begin leaking from storage tanks one after another.
"That's what we fear the most. We must remain alert. We should assume that what has happened once could happen again, and prepare for more," Nuclear Regulation Authority chairman Shunichi Tanaka told a news conference. "We are in a situation where there is no time to waste."

Fukushima is not the worst thing that has ever happened to Japan. It is not the worst thing that has ever happened to the Pacific Ocean. FUKUSHIMA DAICHI IS THE WORST THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED.

Monitoring stations catch a fraction of Fukushima fallout

After Japan’s Fukushima catastrophe, Canadian government officials reassured jittery Canadians that the radioactive plume billowing from the destroyed nuclear reactors posed zero health risks in this country.

In fact, there was reason to worry. Health Canada detected massive amounts of radioactive material from Fukushima in Canadian air in March and April at monitoring stations across the country.

The level of radioactive iodine spiked above the federal maximum allowed limit in the air at four of the five sites where Health Canada monitors levels of specific radioisotopes.

On March 18, seven days after an earthquake and tsunami triggered eventual nuclear meltdowns at the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan, the first radioactive material wafted over the Victoria suburb of Sidney on Vancouver Island.

For 22 days, a Health Canada monitoring station in Sidney detected iodine-131 levels in the air that were 61 percent above the government’s allowable limit. In Resolute Bay, Nunavut, the levels were 3.5 times the limit.

Meanwhile, government officials claimed there was nothing to worry about. “The quantities of radioactive materials reaching Canada as a result of the Japanese nuclear incident are very small and do not pose any health risk to Canadians,” Health Canada says on its website. “The very slight increases in radiation across the country have been smaller than the normal day-to-day fluctuations from background radiation.”

In fact, Health Canada’s own data shows this isn’t true. The iodine-131 level in the air in Sidney peaked at 3.6 millibecquerels per cubic metre on March 20. That’s more than 300 times higher than the background level, which is 0.01 or fewer millibecquerels per cubic metre.

Fukushima has gone "Apocalyptic"

Fukushima may be in an apocalyptic downward spiral.

Forget the corporate-induced media coma that says otherwise ... or nothing at all.

Lethal radiation is spewing unabated. Emission levels could seriously escalate. There is no end in sight. The potential is many times worse than Chernobyl.

Containing this disaster may be beyond the abilities of Tokyo Electric or the Japanese government.

There is no reason to incur further unnecessary risk. With all needed resources, it's time for the world's best scientists and engineers to take charge.

Even then the outcome is unclear.

Fukushima Units One, Two and Three are all in various stages of melting down.

Molten fuel at Unit One may have burned through its reactor pressure vessel, with water poured in to cool it merely pouring out the bottom.

A growing pond of highly radioactive liquid is softening the ground and draining into the ocean.

There is no way to predict where these molten masses of fuel will yet go.

Especially in the event of an aftershock, steam and hydrogen explosions could blow out what's left of the containments.

The extra plutonium in the MOX fuel at Unit Three is an added liability.

At least one spent fuel pool has been on fire.

The site has already suffered at least two hydrogen explosions. Some believe a fission explosion may also have occurred.

Oh shit...

Super Typhoon Songda ripped across the western Pacific on Thursday, dropping heavy rain on the Philippines and threatening Okinawa and the Japanese main islands with rain and damaging winds into the weekend.

Songda was a Category 5 storm late Thursday, with maximum sustained winds of 161 mph and gusts of 195 mph, according to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The storm was producing wave heights of 38 feet in the Pacific, forecasters said.

The forecast track for Songda put it over Okinawa on Saturday night as a Category 2 storm, with maximum sustained winds of 109 mph and gusts up 132 mph. [...]

Level 7 is the most serious level on INES and is used to describe an event comprised of "A major release of radioactive material with widespread health and environmental effects requiring implementation of planned and extended countermeasures". Japanese authorities notified the IAEA in advance of the public announcement and the formal submission of the new provisional rating.

Seriously, did anyone think that once things started to explode at Fukushima that ANYONE needed freakin' clue how this was going to turn out? I'm no expert in nuclear physics but I DO know that when shit fucking BLOWS UP at a nuke facility, that's really, REALLY bad. Do the "authorities" around the world think the other 6 billion of us are 6 years old or what? I think I'm now at the point in my life where if I believe anyone from any government anywhere is telling me the truth about something I'll drop dead from a heart attack.
